We made our point, but Mrs Boyd didn’t get the message

4:50pm Wednesday 6th February 2008

WHILE we were a little disappointed we didn't win on Saturday, I think it could be a massive point for us.

It not only kept Southend below us in the table, I think mentally the result did us the power of good especially grabbing a last-minute goal.

In the second half I felt we dominated the game.

While we had the setback of conceding a second goal we kept going at it. Tam had a couple of great chances before we finally equalised and maybe had one of those gone in we could have even gone on to win it.

I also went close on a couple of occasions, although I don't think my brother, John, is too worried about our annual bet.

Every year we put a small wager on who will score the most goals in a season. But while he is injured at the moment he is probably thinking he can keep his feet up for a bit longer as I'm not having much luck in getting off the mark.

I have certainly been taking a bit of stick off Boydy just because he has been scoring for fun this season.

But I suppose at least I'm not so under the thumb that I have to wear a t-shirt like he did on Saturday.

It was his wife's birthday and I'm not sure if the East Stand caught the message on his shirt after he tucked away his penalty, but his missus didn't because the silly sod ran to the wrong part of the stand.

So I guess he has been on washing up duty at home all week!

Seriously we go to Tranmere fully focused. We have already beaten them once this season, and I'm sure with the work we have been putting in we have a great chance of doing the same again.
