ORIENT manager Martin Ling has confirmed transfer rumours that he was watching Luton's Dean Morgan, but is unlikely to pursue his interest any further in the former Reading forward.
The versatile 24-year-old ex-Colchester man, who can play either on the left wing, or up front was just one of the names the O's boss was considering as he looks to complete his squad ahead of the transfer window shutting at the end of the month.
“Dean was a player we watched, and while he can play on the left he is predominately right footed,” said Ling.
“He did play well in the games we saw him in, but I don't think he would really give us what we are looking for on the left.
“We already have Jason Demetriou, who plays there and again he is more right footed so I feel it is best that we try and sign an out-and-out left footed player for that position.”
The O's boss will now continue to step up his search for an ideal candidate for both that spot and also a young central defender.
He added: “As I've said all along while like the fans I would like to get the two positions covered as quickly as possible, it is also a case of being patient to make sure we get in the best possible players at the same time as well.”
