Chambers backs Orient bosses' slamming verdict

ORIENT midfielder Adam Chambers claims manager Martin Ling had every right to lay into his side after another lacklustre performance at the weekend.

Following an opening day win over Hereford, the east Londoners have since suffered a 4-1 loss at Ipswich in the League Cup and a 3-0 drubbing against Peterborough at the weekend.

And Ling was stinging in his criticism following the London Road loss on Saturday.

He said: "We were out fought and out thought and I have told the players that if they don't want to go where I want to go then they will be shipped out.

"You need to win at least seven individual battles to stand a chance in a game, but not a single player managed to win their battle and for me this is not acceptable."

And former West Brom man Chambers, who has been a key figure for the O's in the last two seasons has backed Ling's assessment.

He said: “The lads know themselves that the last couple of performances haven't been acceptable, and the gaffer and Smudge (Dean Smith) have certainly made that clear to us.

“It has certainly been justified and hopefully that will get a reaction from us against Carlisle on Saturday.”
