ORIENT boss Martin Ling was satisfied with his sides performance against Boston United on Saturday, despite playing out a stalemate with the Unibond league side.
The O's dominated for large periods of the game but squandered the best chances to win the match.
However, Ling was pleased for his squad to get a work-out.
"We had most of the play and should have scored a couple of goals, but sometimes our decision making wasn't what it could be," Ling told the club's official website.
"These early pre-season games are what I call work-through matches, in which I'm more concerned with building our fitness levels.
"The decision making, quickness of passing and goalscoring will follow."
Wayne Gray returned to action from the injury he sustained in the final game of last season.
And the striker put in an impressive performance as a second half substitute, including hitting a post with a diving header, and Ling was clearly delighted with his performance.
"I thought Wayne Gray looked outstanding when he came on," said Ling.
"He got injured on the last day of last season and has just started to join in with us in training.'
"We said to him that he was going to come here to do a bit of work on the pitch, but he trained yesterday, said he felt good and asked to have half-an-hour.
"He got that and looked sharp out there.
"JJ Melligan also looked particularly sharp in that period, so they were both pleasing aspects."
Ling's troops continue their pre-season schedule with a trip to local rivals Dagenham and Redbridge on Wednesday.
