THIS is in the article about the closure of the Prince of Wales pub (Guardian, August 14).
As regular supporters of the many social events at The Prince of Wales, contrary to the impression given in your article, we would like you to know that these events are always very well attended.
The closure of this historic watering hole will cut through the heart of a community that arranges many charitable events throughout the year, most notably through their support for a wonderful five-year-old girl, Grace, who is in desperate need of medical treatment.
Thousands of pounds have been raised for this good cause by the Prince of Wales and its customers, which would not have been possible if no-one bothered to put money over the bar.
With complete disregard for the history and tradition of English pubs, the owners are looking for a fast buck and know they can earn money from this prime site by selling the bricks and mortar to anyone who comes along.
